Lyric-ology

These are bits and pieces of the best lyric I've come across in the songs I've heard.
There are a lot of good ones of course, but these are the ten I love the most in no specific order.

1) You're beautiful-James Blunt

"You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you."

2) Coming back to life- Pink Floyd

"And where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun"

3) With or without you- U2

"See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you

Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you"

4) Another Brick in the wall- Pink Floyd

"We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall."

5) Bleeding love- Leona Lewis

"but I don’t care what they say
I’m in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don’t know the truth
My heart’s crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and
I Keep bleeding,
I keep, keep bleeding love."

6) Afterglow-INXS

"Touch me and I will follow,
In your afterglow.
Heal me from all this sorrow,
As I let you go.
I will find my way
When I see your eyes,
Now I'm living,
In your afterglow.

Here I am,
Lost in the ashes of time,
But who wants tomorrow,
In between,
Longing to hold you again,
I'm caught in your shadow.
I'm losing control."

7) What hurts the most- Rascal flatts

"But I know if I could do it over
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do"

8) The scientist- Coldplay

"Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I've set you apart

Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on the science apart"

9)Yellow- Coldplay

"Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellow

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called "Yellow"
......
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
And you know
For you I'd bleed myself dry
For you I'd bleed myself dry"

10) I'm with you- Avril Lavigne

"I'm standing on the bridge
I'm waiting in the dark
I thought that you'd be here by now
There's nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I'm listening but there's no sound
...................
Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I
I'm with you
I'm with you"

The ones that almost made it

1) Another day in paradise-Phil Collins

"She calls out to the man on the street
sir, can you help me?
Its cold and Ive nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me?

He walks on, doesnt look back
He pretends he cant hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there"

2) Lazarus- Porcupine Tree

"As the cheerless towns pass my window
I can see a washed out moon through the fog
And then a voice inside my head breaks the analogue
And says

"Follow me down to the valley below
You know
Moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul"

I survived against the will of my twisted folk
But in the deafness of my world the silence broke
And said

"Follow me down to the valley below
You know Moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul""

Now I feel complete :-)

6 steps to heaven:

nice set of tracks you have selected. one of my most fav are listed below...

Try not to cry - Yusuf Sami and Outlandish

You, you’re not aware
That we’re aware
Of your despair
Don’t show your tears
To your oppressor
Don’t show your tears

Try not to cry little one
You’re not alone
I’ll stand by you
Try not to cry little one
My heart is your stone
I’ll throw with you...

this song is about the plight of children in war torn areas around the world...

@ juxtaposed_blogger

Of course, it used to be one of my favorites once. Kept listening to the same until it got boringly familiar :-)

Porcupine Tree's Lazarus is too good. I liked it. It's addictive:-)

"Follow me down to the valley below
You know
Moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul"

BTW: Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) and Champagne Supernova (Oasis) - are my favourite
